Public records research tutorial available online through Berkley’s multimedia journalism program

Looking to brush up on your public records research skills? A resource is now available thanks to the late Berkley professor, Paul Grabowicz. “For years he wrote and maintained tutorials about public records on the journalism school’s website,” Bay Area New Group Watchdog Column author, Thomas Peele writes, “they remain as a public service, available to all.”

The tutorials can be found here.

They include information on how to research the following:

Police records
Bankruptcy court filings
Financial disclosure statements
Campaign finance reports
Coroner’s reports
How to file a successful FOIA request
