Colorado private investigator pleads guilty to misdemeanor harassment in stalking case

By Denver Private Investigator Blogger Emily Palm

A Colorado private investigator charged with two felony counts of stalking after he followed a client’s estranged wife pled guilty last week to a reduced  charge of misdemeanor harassment.

As previously reported in the Denver Private Investigator Blog, Timothy Allen Stitt, 42, was hired by Jeff Schudel to follow  his estranged wife. Schudel and his estranged wife were  in the midst of a child-custody battle. Stitt placed a tracking device on the car of the estranged wife, and told his client where she had been. Schudel then called his estranged wife, told her he knew where she had been, and asked her who she had been having sex with. At the urging of a girlfriend, the estranged wife checked her vehicle, and found the GPS device. She called police. They called Schudel. He said he’d retained an investigator to follow his estranged wife. Schudel then called Stitt and Stitt then called police to acknowledge placing the GPS device.

Stitt’s case concerned private investigators because they are routinely retained to follow spouses and ex-spouses. Stitt was adamant that he’d done nothing wrong.

Colorado Private Investigator Wades Into Controversy Over Whether Obama Was Born in the U.S.

A Colorado private investigator is playing a key role in unearthing information on the politically explosive issue of whether President Barak Obama was born in the U.S.

John Sampson of CSI Consulting and Investigations in Aurora is helping raise interesting questions about the President’s social security number.

Sampson is an expert on social security numbers by virtue of a 27-year career with the former Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) and its successor, the Bureau Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) of the Department of Homeland Security. He holds a Bachelor of Arts cum laude in Criminal Justice from Long Island University and attended Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Mich.

Along with his academic experience, he is a graduate of the Immigration Officers Basic Training Course held at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, located in Glynco, Ga. He has investigated several high profile cases, most notably that of Gregory Adam Mills, an Australian national who fled to the United States after brutally murdering his employer in London, England.

Sampson was the INS agent who located and arrested Mills, who was hiding in a rural part of Colorado. Mills was ultimately extradited to England to stand trial for the murder,  and was convicted and is currently serving a life sentence in an English prison.

Sampson retired from the federal service in 2008, and launched his private investigation firm last year.

Sampson recently discussed his work investigating President Obama’s birthplace with the Private Investigator Blog.

Private Investigator Blog: How did you first get involved in investigating President Obama’s social security number?

John Sampson: I was approached by Dr. Orly Taitz, who simply asked me to research a particular SSN. She did not tell me who was associated with it. When I saw the number, assuming it had something to do with Mr. Obama, I knew there was an issue due to the first three digits, which indicated it was issued to someone living on the East Coast. Knowing that Mr. Obama was raised in Hawaii by his maternal grandparents, as well as spending several years in Indonesia, I anticipated that there was going to be an issue. At the time the SSN in question was issued, Mr. Obama was living in Hawaii with his maternal grandparents, Madelynn and Stanley Dunham.

Denver Private Investigator Investigates Waterfowl Fatalities

By Emily Palm, Denver Private Investigator Blogger

A veteran Denver private investigator is using her investigative skills in a bid to figure out why birds, geese and ducks in a Denver lake are dying in alarming numbers.

The high number of dead waterfowl in City Park’s Duck Lake in Denver is prompting questions about contaminated water.  A recent article in “The Profile: Washington Park,” covered the ongoing debate over why waterfowl are dying in disturbing numbers in City Park’s Duck Lake

Among those concerned is Denver private investigator Linda Neely, a volunteer at The Wild Bird Information & Rehabilitation of Denver. Neely hs expressed concern about recycled water put into the park’s lake since 2007. The recycled water includes water from underneath the Lowry landfill, which  for decades was the dumping ground for all manner of radioactive waste, cleaning solvents, pesticides and other dangerous chemicals.

In the business since 1989, Neely works only for attorneys,  on both civil and criminal cases. She recently discussed her concerns about the waterfowl fatalities with the Denver Private Investigator Blog.

Jury Acquits Defendant in 1975 Murder Case Stemming from Denver Kidnapping – Denver private investigator

By Denver Private Investigator Blogger Emily Palm

RAPID CITY, South Dakota – A federal jury late last month returned a not-guilty verdict against a man charged in a 35-year-old murder conspiracy that began with an alleged kidnapping in Denver.

Jurors deliberated for less than two hours before acquitting Richard Marshal of charges that he supplied a gun to the killers of American Indian Activist Anna Mae Aquash, whose body was found in April of 1976 on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.

Marshall’s court-appointed attorney, Dana Hanna, noted that it’s a widely held belief that Native Americans such as Marshall cannot get a fair trial in front of an all-white jury. “We have proved them wrong today,” he said after the verdict.

Federal prosecutors alleged that the plot to kill Aquash was implemented in Denver, when she was taken against her will by her killers in late 1975. Marshall attorney Hanna retained Ryan Ross of Ross Investigators to undertake the Denver-based aspects of the investigation.
